Two Spring Hikes in April of 2005 - Edgewood and Mission Peak

Wild flower time it is. Blue skys, white fluffy clouds, green hills, and golden poppies.

Edgewood County Reserve, San Mateo, April. 2005
We first came here two years ago, when we were dazzled by the carpet of golden flowers. This year we were a little impatient and showed up during the first weekend of April. The flower weren't in full bloom yet. But the sky was so very blue, and clouds were lovely. We had a lovely stroll through the green meadow and rolling hills. The bay spreaded its sparkling self. Many people were running on the trail. There was no mistaken that we were in the health-conscious SF Bay Area. :)

Mission Peak, Fremont, April 2005
I had been living in Fremont for many many years, but I had never been to Mission Peak. Before the hills changing into its usual Summer-yellow, we caught a final glimpse of its lovely green on the wind-swept Mission Peak ridge. Golden poppies were overflowing on the high ridge, where the cows didn't get to. Lots of colorful hand-gliders were floating above us like giant eagles. The wind was strong, some of them must have been up flying for 2-3 hours! We were very jealouse of their wings. The trail was scorching hot without much shade, but on top of the ridge, it was enveloped in the biting wind, freezing cold. The official language on the trail seemed to be Mandarin! ha!
